Prestige Learning Institute is dedicated to quality education for adult immigrants in Houston, Texas.
Our Mission
Prestige Learning Institute exists to foster community development and open doors of opportunity for adult immigrants and refugees. We accomplish this by providing culturally appropriate and affordable education initiatives, including English as a Second Language classes and career development services, that empower our clients to advance personally, academically, and economically.
Our History
At PLI we want to be a catalyst for building a better and stronger community across Houston. We will do this by offering a holistic set of educational opportunities at an affordable cost.
In the fall of 2012, we began with two ESL literacy classes at Baker-Riley Neighborhood Center. Each year we have grown in the number and diversity of class offerings. In 2014, we relocated around the corner to our own suite to expand our ESL class and childcare capacity. To date, we have served over 700 immigrants and refugees from 40 countries representing 30 languages.
Our Teachers
PLI utilizes passionate, dedicated and trained volunteer teachers to teach classes. The teachers are fluent English speakers, sensitive to diverse cultures and are passionate about welcoming immigrants and refugees, both inside a classroom setting and outside a classroom setting. These teachers bring a wealth of knowledge into their classrooms. Teachers come from all different backgrounds, including business professionals, healthcare workers, homemakers, engineers, teachers, and parents. All of the teachers care for and desire to support students in their language progress and personal life goals.
