One of the goals of our Children's Program is to prepare little ones for kindergarten. A strong start in kindergarten paves the way for lifelong learning—but our vision reaches beyond academics. The first three years of a child’s life lay both the mental and spiritual foundations for their future.
One semester, a child in our fish class (for 1–2 year olds) came in with abundant energy but struggled to adjust to classroom boundaries and interact well with his peers. With extra support from our staff, we saw remarkable growth. He not only began engaging more positively with his classmates, but he also started sharing on his own initiative.

"When I first came, I didn't know any English at all. But now I can communicate... I love my class, and my teacher is amazing!"

Ahmad Khalili has seen a lot of difficulty in life, including losing one of his legs. After receiving a new prosthetic leg, he took a bad fall and injured his other leg badly enough that it required surgery. Although he is usually full of smiles and joy, this injury was extremely discouraging for him. When he returned to Men's Community, he asked to share with the group and got up in front of everyone to tell his story. He shared about the hardships in his life, including the accident that claimed his leg. He talked about his most recent injury, and he also encouraged everyone to always be thankful to God, regardless of the circumstances. Despite the difficulty he had seen, he was still thankful and wanted to give credit where credit was due.

Salma, from the Teen Girl’s Group, has been taking care of her younger siblings while her parents are visiting ailing family members in their home country. She was able to arrange for most of their needs, but one thing she couldn’t do was school pick-up for her two younger siblings. Several PLI staff stepped in to take care of school pick-ups for the weeks her parents were gone. Salma said, “I don’t know how to thank you! It’s just that words aren’t enough to express how grateful my family and I are for you.”
