Children's Program

Providing trauma-informed care for young children and preparing them for school

Child Development

During our women's ESL classes, we provide childcare for the preschool-aged children of our ESL students. Our childcare teachers are trained in trauma-informed care to respond to the unique needs of immigrant and refugee families. We provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to grow in independence. Our program supports linguistic, cognitive, physical, emotional and social development, with the goal of preparing children for primary school.

Childcare is available only to our ESL students’ children and as spots are available.

Qasem

One of the goals of our Children's Program is to prepare little ones for kindergarten. A strong start in kindergarten paves the way for lifelong learning—but our vision reaches beyond academics. The first three years of a child’s life lay both the mental and spiritual foundations for their future.

One semester, a child in our fish class (for 1–2 year olds) came in with abundant energy but struggled to adjust to classroom boundaries and interact well with his peers. With extra support from our staff, we saw remarkable growth. He not only began engaging more positively with his classmates, but he also started sharing on his own initiative.
