Hugh Smith

Hugh worked in the electric generation industry for nearly 40 years across multiple states in the country, founding a renewable energy business in 2010. After retiring in 2018, he and his wife moved to Houston to live near their grandchildren.

Hugh became active in working with Houston’s refugee community in 2021, primarily focusing on helping families acclimate to the U.S. culture and systems. He learned about PLI in 2024 and joined the board later that year. Helping our clients understand and adapt to the complexities of American culture is one of his top priorities.

Hugh spends much of his time traveling, hanging out with his grandkids, and golfing. He and his wife, Marsha, are active members of Houston’s FirstBaptist Church.
