Jacob Cherian

Jacob grew up in the Seattle area as a child of immigrants, lived in Iran from 1975-1978 and has visited many countries. He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Washington State University and a master’s in chemical engineering from the University of Houston. He has worked for several companies in various locations, both in the United States and abroad.

Jacob learned about PLI soon after the U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan in August of 2021. He wanted to find out if any faith-based organizations were serving Afghan refugees in the Houston area. After a quick internet search, he found PLI, and he has been an active participant in the Men’s Community, which meets on Thursday nights ever since.

Jacob and his wife Lauri have 3 grown children. He enjoys playing in chess tournaments in his free time.
