
Board Member, Director of Research Programs and Strategic Initiatives at the Gulf Coast Consortia
Suzanne Mathis joined the Board of Directors in November 2023. She attends Antioch Community Church with her son.
Suzanne is the Director of Research Programs and Strategic Initiatives at the Gulf Coast Consortia, a multi-institutional organization headquartered at Rice University. In this role, she directs several topic-focused research programs with an emphasis on developing healthcare interventions across a wide range of foci, including cancer, infectious disease, pain, inflammation, immunology, regeneration, mental health disorders, and more. She is gifted in facilitating large multi-institutional healthcare research initiatives, developing teams, and working with those teams to develop and deploy strategy and secure funding. She is passionate about using her gifts and skillset to serve refugees and immigrants in Houston, and she brings her experience to the Board of Directors to advise on several organizational issues.
